About us

Founded in 2002 the company “Spain-Rural” is run by Bob & Githa Schouten, a Dutch couple that lives in the Valle de Lecrin. We decided to leave the busiest part of Holland to live in an area of natural beauty, where people still have time for a chat and where the nature and weather conditions provide you with an unique combination of sun, beach and snow. The cultural history of Andalucía has provided for an overwhelming mixture of Roman, Moorish and Catholic styles, which are a pleasure to the eye.

Major part of her youth Githa lived outside of Holland and build up a career with an international pharmaceutical company, which involved traveling to and communicating with different cultures.
After his study of International Business, Bob worked the major part of his professional career at Schiphol International airport in Holland. During this period he enjoyed extensive travelling both professionally and personally.
